Three people were killed and members of the group were beaten by ploice at the
Algiers Motel one mile from where the riots began.
Years ago i had the book "The Algiers Motel Incident"
So it's come to this, not a good look. Even Millie Vanilla didn't ask their fans to come back. It's evident his career is over and I have no clue what can get him back on track.
I suppose he's got a nice nest egg somewhere after all the money he made so far and will not starve. This "plead" will not further his cause, imo. He should have waited until things have settled and then come out with a smash album. I bet his fans would welcome him back with open arms. But begging his fans to support him? No way.
_________________
"There will always be another song to sing ..."
Subject: Chris Brown Pleads With Fans To Help Revive His Career
Posted: Mon Mar 15, 2010 2:36 am (GMT 0)

Poor guy...

Chris Brown Pleads With Fans To Help Revive His Career

Sad news is in abundance this week, starting with the former prince of pop Chris Brown. Brown, who has been vying for a way to revitalize his career following his 2009 assault on ex-girlfriend Rihanna, has resorted to desperate measures to stage his comeback.

The 20-year-old singer-dancer, who plead guilty to felony assault and is on probation for five years, recorded an audio message Wednesday on Say Now asking his fans to "bring [him] back." A humbled Brown said he needs his fans' help. "Some radio stations aren't playing my records," he said. "They're not being that supportive and I wouldn't expect them to. But it's on the fans...It's in your power to bring me back."

Brown said he is doing everything he can do. He refers to himself as a "better person" and said he is doing his music for the love, but added that his career is in jeopardy.

"It won't be possible for me to be an artist if I don't have support from people who give me an artist outlet," Brown said. "I can't be an underground mixtape artist."

Brown sounds stressed out. After releasing two previously successful albums, it has got to be tough experiencing such a decline in support for his current album, Graffiti.

His 2005 self-titled debut is double platinum. His 2007 follow-up, Exclusive, is platinum. Both albums yielded a slew of gold, platinum, and double platinum singles. Brown's post-altercation Graffiti still has not achieved gold status for album or single. Neither album nor singles, "I Can Transform Ya" or "Crawl," are on the pop charts. Though Graffiti is No. 34 on Billboard's R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart.
I know it's been a year since the incident, he has accepted his sentence, and was previously praised by the judge for following through with his community service, but he needs to relax. It is going to take some time for him to repair his reputation. He needs to be patient. He just re-emerged on Twitter at @ChrisBrown and is keeping it positive so far. He Tweeted about reading to 3rd grade students at a school in Harlem. This feels like a better plan. Releasing a new album just eight months after the altercation was just too soon.

I do feel bad about one thing: that my violin's in the shop. My solution will be to remove the "C" and "B" keys off my keyboard and throw them into a wishing well. I cry for you, Chris. Really.

Ed
_________________
Michael Jackson (1958-2009). At his best, he was the best.

I have always enjoyed Michael's music - but I have to say after watching "This Is It" I gained a much deeper respect for Michael. I really did not know what to expect of the movie - I do know that I expected some dry documentary stuff to be in the movie - and boy was I wrong. Within the first moments of the movie I said to myself - this is going to be great!

There is so much to discuss here people - where to begin. The Dancers, The Back-up singers - the music - EVERYTHING was spot-on! There is a second DVD that comes with the movie that goes into more detail about the dancers and back-up singers that I have not had a chance to watch yet.

But Michael picked the cream of the crop in these people!

And what about the Chick playing lead guitar - on my goodness!!!! I was speech-less!

I agree with DC - the new video concepts behind Thriller and Smooth Criminal were fantastic!

When I picked up the DVD - I spotted a new CD out of Michael's number one hits and picked that up too. It is mastered really well. I was listening to it on my way to work the past few days - and I don't know if it is because I have just recently watched the movie - but as I was singing along in the car - I thought to myself - all of these songs are not just songs - they are productions. Does that make sense?

Okay I have thrown a lot into one post - hoping to spark some conversation here!
I just saw it a couple weeks ago as well. For a rehearsal I thought it was very well done. Mike's show was going to be fantastic. I really liked the new video concepts that he made for "Smooth Criminal" and "Thriller."
It came on at 9:00 PM Saturday night in my area. I only watched the first hour and an half and recorded the rest because I had to get up at 4:00 AM for work and had to go to bed. This is first time since 1964 that this has been shown - except bootleg copies. It was shown in theaters in 1964. PBS remastered the original footage!

By the time you all get to see - I should have watched the balance of what I missed and we can discuss it.
PARIS (AFP) – US singer-songwriter Stevie Wonder was Saturday awarded one of France's top cultural honours, which he dedicated to his deceased mother 30 years after he was tapped to receive it.

"I receive this honour in memory of my mother and in memory of all of those that have made it possible for me to stand here today," said an emotional Wonder, clad in marine blue striped suit, as he received the Commander of Arts and Letters award from French Culture Minister Frederic Mitterrand.

I got a newsletter from my local PBS Station - I received this info this morning:

A NOTE FROM THE EDITOR

Dear friends:

Director Quentin Tarantino named it one of his top three rock films of all time—and we've got it for you. The show features rare performances from the Rolling Stones, Chuck Berry, Marvin Gaye, James Brown, The Supremes, Smokey Robinson, The Beach Boys and many more.

The T.A.M.I. Show: Rock 'n' Roll's First Concert Film premieres Saturday, 3/6, at 9:00 p.m.

Tune in, rock on and thanks for your support!

Check your local PBS Station to see if it is on in your area if you are interested!

Note from Mods: Thread title changed for clarification
